A gathering of people can be a beautiful event with all the commotion and energy that rushes. As people move together, the French poet Charles Baudelaire felt a passion and intoxication for the crowed streets of Paris. However, crowds can be dangerous. In Williams Carlos Williams, At the Ball Game, he explores the movement and reactions of the crowd. This poem appears like it was chiseled out of granite for it is so sculptured and simple. Williams explores the dangers of social conformity as does Mark Twain in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The poem, At the Ball Game, is a poem that the setting and occurrence are the joyous and rambunctious attitude presented at an American past time. This poem portrays a festive time that occurs at least once in every human's life. They attend a game where they become a part of the faceless crowd. He explains how it should be moved unchangingly and he accomplishes this by combining his description of the game with objects associated with what we would call basic necessities. An example of such a term is uniformly which he illustrates that there are conformities within the crowd. Just the very basic components of the natural world, the objects of nature that everyone visualizes of when nature is suggested. In this case, objects of nature and everything associated with it are used. Many of his poems explore nature and use it to explore and explain human behavior as he sees it through his own eyes. This poem uses very simplistic language to paint a very descriptive and clear picture. There were few things which were very specific and stood out in his works. Most of Williams' literature is the simplicity of the language he uses. Many believe he did that in order to separate himself from other poets of his time as did Mark Twain with his novels.
