I think Egeus is not doing the right thing by not standing by Hermia'sside and wanting to punish even when they are father and daughter. He'snot doing the right thing because forcing his daughter will just wanther to get away from him and do the opposite that he desires. Egeus is trying to force her to marry Demetrius or else she would haveto become a nun or be single. To have the state of mind of threateningyour daughter to marry someone that you don't love shows that you don'tcare for her and that she will be unhappy with her life. Hermia is inlove with Lysander but her father, Egeus, favors Demetrius. A fathershould want the best for his daughter and let her love anyone that comesher way. Being forced to marry someone just shows that Egeus doesn'tlove his daughter because when you love someone you will stand by theirside and support their decisions. The more Egeus pushes his daughter tomarry Demestirus, she will only love Lysander more until Egeusunderstands that's what she wants. A true father will want her daughterto marry happily and to love her life instead of marrying someone that'dmake her unhappy. A father that goes to the Duke of Athens to complainthat his daughter is being disobedient shows he doesn't know how tohandle his own daughter. Hermia is head over heels for Lysander. ...
