Drinking and drivingis the number one killer of teenagers in America. Because of it, the teenagegroup is the only age group whos number of deaths are increasing insteadof decreasing. Outright denying teens of alcohol doesnt work. That justmakes young adults want alcohol even more. Whats sad about drinking underthe influence cases is that every one of them could have been easily prevented.So, if you cannot deny adolescences of alcohol, why not just educate themon simple precautions that can be taken to prevent drinking and driving.One of the best andoldest ways to stop drinking under the influence is having a designateddriver. Its not a hard thing to do. Just asking someone responsible toaccompany you to a party (or whatever it may be) in which you know therewill be alcohol. If you dont know if there will be alcoholic beveragesserved, take a responsible friend anyway just to make sure.Another good wayto keep yourself from being a DUI case is to clear out your car of anythingdistracting. When youre drunk, simple things can give you an incredibleamount of entertainment. So, clean out your car from fuzzy dice, cellularphones, anything that can distract you. Studies show that just by doingthis, your chance of having an accident can be decreased by over 25.So, youre alreadyat the party and drinking beer. What can you do? For starters, you cantry eating high protein food like meat, cheese, and peanuts. Foods thatare rich in protein can help absorb alcohol faster. Another thing you cando is drink slowly. Take a sip every now and then. If you drink a gulp,you dont get to savor the taste and aroma. Also, you tend to drink a lotmore than what you can take.What if youre theperson whos throwing the party and serving the alcohol?
