Blaise Pascals inventions and discoveries have helped form in what is mathematics today. Best known for laying the foundation for the modern theory of probabilities, Pascal was a French mathematician, physicist and religious philosopher. Without his studies, many questions and theories in the fields of geometry, physics and computer science would not have been answered. Whether it was the Pascaline, The calculus of possibilities, the syringe, or the hydraulic press, each contribution has made an incredible impact to math and science.In 1642, Pascal invented the first digital calculator which is known as the Pascaline. The purpose was to help his father, a tax collector, count taxes. Although the device could only add, subtract, multiply, and divide, Pascals creation of the mechanical calculator was highly advanced for his time (Bellis, Mary Biography of Blaise Pascal).
