Born from the same ideals, rational and organic approach on modern building grew simultaneously. Architects between the end of the 19th and the start of the 20th century started relating to problems that revolved around the idea of efficiency, swapping values of aesthetics with forms in sync with its desired purposes. The Organic and Rational movements from the point of view of spatial creation shared the same fundamentals. Both considered modern styles they exploited the change in industrial production of material, and stylistic ideals to create space and forms which responded with the needs for which they were built. As modern movements the desire to stylistically vary from the past architectural styles was followed by each one of the rational an organic styles. Modernism came along as a response to Art Nouveau, influenced by the new coming styles as cubism and neoplasticism (De Stijl) gave the option to abandon symmetry from the organisation of a building.
