Statisticians have a purpose, just as any other professional does. They complete or serve in a capacity that overall, is a positive influence to society. Statistics is the study, practice, or science of gathering and analyzing data. Statistics are also facts and figures based on evidence and trends or patterns. Statisticians study, develop, and introduce statistics to others. A statistician does not serve in the capacity to win over the crowd or sugar coat the facts. The job of the statistician is to draw information, insight, and outcomes from data. Statisticians are not always right. Unless an individual is part computer, they will never have the ability to always be right, regardless of their career choice. This group of individuals do, however, benefit society in their role. Statistics, in turn, is more of a positive influence than a negative one.The utilization of statistics helps individuals every day, and very rarely do people even realize the impact statistics has on them. Statistics analyze everything that is going on in the world. For instance, weather forecasts are based on statistics. Weather forecasts can be wrong at times, but other times in which they are correct, lives can be saved. If data indicates a hurricane or tornado is incoming, the public can be warned to find shelter in time to save lives. Without the utilization of statistics, this would not be possible.Furthermore, many individuals base their livelihoods on statistics. The data that is analyzed in coordination with other business and marketing functions enables many companies to remain in operation, thus hiring workers, and enabling people to survive. The stock market is driven by statistics. Government races are driven by statistics as well. Almost every aspect of our lives is impacted by statistics. Although not always correct, statistics allows us to analyze the mass amount of data available and all around us to draw conclusions and continue growing, adapting, and evolving. Its important to show others the impact statistics...
