PETS Animals and humans have lived together for thousands of years. No matter what the age, race, occupation, or environment people seem to be in constant contact with animals. The human-animal bond is strong, from the start of mans excedents animals came into our imaginations and have been a source of inspiration. Ancient man hunted animals for meat and skin. Some historians believe that some cave paintings may have been a form of animal worship. Many cultures were brought up in religions that believed in animal or animal-like gods. Mythology, folk tales, and art implies that the human-animal bond that has always been present. Agriculture caused people to have considerable contact with livestock. From this point on the ties between animals and people became tighter, the roles of animals began to change as well. Horses have gone from vehicular beast of burden to beautiful, elegant, companions who are sometimes used in equestrian sports. Even the terms and way of training a horse has changed. People no longer break in horses but gentle them. Forenamed mans best friend dogs were best of burden as well. Dogs had a wide range of task including hunting, protection, and even rounding up live stock. Although dogs are still occasionally kept for work the majority of people who own dogs obtain them 2 because they are a loyal acquaintance. Humans brought cats into their homes for their formidable ability to catch mice and rats. In some cultures cats were held as sacred begins. Today these very independent animals not only seen as excellent hunters but as warm, affectionate, loving members of the family, the same goes for many other animals. Why has the role of animals changed from being creatures of labor to part of the family? Modern man has realized that the advantages to owning a pet far surpasses that of any industrious task the animal may perform. Household pets bring many benefits to their owners...
