As class begins to get further down the road all the students in the class we assign a specific chapter in each book. My group was assigned a chapter dealing with abuse of an animal. My group had to do a presentation on chapter five in SWL which talked about dogs and how people miss treated them whether it was a woman or a man. Having to do chapter five as a presentation narrowed down what I wanted to write my paper on. I had many suggestions to what I was going to write my paper on. I wanted to do a topic that I would be really interested in doing and also a topic that I can find a lot of information about. I decided that I would be doing something dealing with the American pit bull Terrier. Many questions have come to mind for me to do my topic on but, the main question that I will be addressing is does the American pit bull Terrier deserve to be banned? The problem that pit bulls have is being aggressive or the stray are due to the owners that are neglecting them. In the news lately they have been discussing that different states such as Florida and Maryland are banning pit bulls. In Maryland many of the pit bull owners and others are going against the ban even though this ban has been implemented for many years. Eric Bernthal, a lawyer and Maryland resident who chairs the HSUS board, argues that the ruling was rooted in ignorance and not based on sound fact-finding (George). Sometimes people need to stop jumping on one solution without thinking the rest thoroughly. Banning one particular breed of dogs isnt going to stop dogs from biting or being aggressive.
