According to an article published on December 15, 2011 in the New York Times, "The National Institutes of Health on Thursday suspended all new grants for biomedical and behavioral research on chimpanzees and accepted the first uniform criteria for assessing the necessity of such research. Those guidelines require that the research be necessary for human health and that there be no other way to accomplish it"(Animal Testing Pros).Every year, over billions of guiltless animals are injured or killed in scientific experiments across the world. Many of these animals, between seventeen and seventy million are used in the United States alone. Its said that an animal dies in a laboratory about every three seconds. Those who are for animal experimentation say theyre taking animals lives to save humans. But is it really necessary to focus animals to threatened conditions or painful experiments in the name of science research? Is it even ethical to take control of an animals life while testing for a new cosmetic or a fancy shampoo? Animal experimentation should be abolished because it is unethical to destroy an animal's life.This political cartoon shows that animal testing varies and has its positives and negatives. Animals feel just like we feel and that includes pain but the outcomes of animal testing would help humans buy products that could make a sale, and improve cosmetics (GirlieGirl Army).There are many controversial issues on the matter of animal testing. We use animals to test on our everyday needs such as cosmetics, medicines, clothing, and etc. There is a vast majority on the animals that our society tests on such as wild game, agricultural, exotic, water inhabited animals, and even our typical pets.
